IntroductionMy name is Tim Clark and I am a quality improvement practitioner, educator and trainer who works for the Department of Defense. I am also the author of Success Through Quality: Support Guide For the Journey to Continuous Improvement. My passion for working to improve the quality of public service led me to discover an innovative technology that can help you to be more effective by improving your leadership, decision making and problem solving skills. This technology is so simple and profound that it is being applied by children as well as by corporate and world leaders. What's this new
technology and Prior to the Second World War, an American researcher, Walter Shewhart developed innovative methods for improving quality that were so effective, they were classified during WWII. I first learned about these new methods from individuals such as W. Edwards Deming and Joseph Juran who taught them to the Japanese after WWII. I then started reading books on the subject that although were written in English, read like a foreign language. After about 2-3 years of applying this new technology that at first appeared to be fairly simple (but not easy), my "light" as they say, went on. I also learned from other practitioners that this long learning curve was not unusual. I was convinced however, that I could shorten the learning time for others by translating the principles and methods into more common language and helping people to apply it to their particular situation. My essay, Transformation to a world that works for almost everyone, provides a little more information about my personal journey.
Seven years later -- "The Book" Thomas Jefferson remarked that if you want an enlightened society, you must have an enlightened citizenry. To share what I learned and to help others improve quality, I started teaching quality improvement courses within the Department of Defense and then at the local colleges and public libraries. I have also presented seminars and workshops throughout the country. In order to reach more people, I started "the book". I thought it would take me about nine months to convert my seminar notes to book form. Well, seven years (part-time) later and after incorporating feedback from over a thousand people from all walks of life, my book, Success Through Quality, Support Guide for the Journey to Continuous Improvement, (ISBN 0-87389-441-3) was published by Quality Press. This web site is another method for reaching more people. Hope you find my web site inspirational, useful and informative. I would appreciate your feedback. |
